ION - The upcoming luxury shopping mall.

The name "Orchard Road" does not bring to mind a muddy lane in a plantation, but of indulgence shopping.

This is ION. An upcoming luxury shopping mall. This is a photo of the construction process.

It was previously called Orchard Turn, and here's an old photo taken Sept 4, 2006.

Talking about Shopping, some say the 8 week long Great Singapore Sale causes a fatigue effect. Do you think so?

Are you a busybody like I am? haha...

Tinky Winky (Purple), Dipsy (Green), Laa-Laa (Yellow) or Po (Red)

The Beach Patrol guys at Sentosa

I saw the word Beach Patrol, and I thought of Baywatch.

But... I guess they wont be in Baywatch. :-p (hehe....)

The floaters they use are different from Baywatch too eh?
I wonder if Crocs are part of their uniform. Both seems to wear the same colour crocs.

Building Sandcastles

When was the last time you had fun like this? Building sandcastles instead of playing with PS3, Xbox or Wii

I like this photo because you can see how intense and concentrated the boy is when he is building his sandcastle. Photo taken at Palawan Beach, Sentosa.

Family Day @ Sentosa

The Staff of NUS (one of the world's best university) had her Family Day today (Saturday) at Sentosa - Singapore's Resort Island.

It sure was interesting, that even the rain visited us! However it is great to meet up with colleagues from within our own school and from other faculties as well.

Does the place where you work provide family friendly practices and do they have family days?

Autobots... transform....

I was too tired from studying last nite for my certification, and did not get to post a picture yesterday. Took the test today and passed :-)

I just came back from watching Transformers. Guess what, does this building look like an autobot? Haha... I think it does...

This building is called Republic Plaza.
It's a 280 metres tall skyscraper with 66 stories.

You think an autobot will be this tall too? They seem very very tall in the movie!

The Star that shines in the NDP Crowds....

If you saw the picture of the crowd the other day, and wonder about the lights in the audience, it is generated by this star!

This star when is turned on has multiple modes too. Blink Blink mode, on mode, off mode. What else, I can't remember...

By the way, are you a crowds person or you hate crowds?

The Magical Fan in the NDP Freebies Pack

Maybe I am 'ancient', but I thought this was so interesting! A normal fan with a little electronic gadget displays words!

This is one of the many interesting freebies they give out to people who watch the NDP.

When you turn it on, the blades rotate and words came out!

Here's a video, if you would like to see this thing in action.

Are you intrigue by little things like this?

Wanna Reverse Bungee at 200 kph?

Last nite, I was on the way to meet friends for dinner and I took this shot.

It's the G-max Reverse Bungee at Clarke Quay. Read that it shoots up in the air at 200 kph!
Some time ago, I posted a day photo, this is a nite photo.

Anyone wanna go?
You think it's less scary during the nite? Or it's the same day and nite. :-p

Raffles Place MRT Station - EW14 / NS26

This is one of the many entrances / exits at the Raffles Place MRT Station (Station Code: EW14 / NS26). Raffles Place Interchange is one of the main interchange in the Singapore train system, and also one of the busiest too.

This photo is of the main entrance/exit, which has the colonial style architecture, and facing the Raffles Gardens.

Do you know how many entrance/exits are there in this station? Hint here.

If you have a Mass Rapid Transit system in your city, which is the busiest station?

Millions of containers.....

This whole week has been really stressful, attending a security related course and was told there was a certification exam on the last day! Plus the last few weeks, we have been shifting house, so its very tiring. I have not been visiting anyone's blogs as well and replying comments. So so sorry... Hope you all dont blame me yah...

Anyway, this is the view where the course is held. It's so interesting to see the cranes load and unload these containers.. They move very fast too!

I better go study. I have not taken exams for such a long time, I feel so stressed!

Buildings & Reflections at the Financial District

Here's a view at Raffles Place, where all the major banks, insurance companies, MNCs, local companies have their tall tall buildings.

I thought this looks interesting, you can see the reflection of the opposite building on this building.

Do you work in the financial district?
For me, I work far away from the financial district.

Late comers at the Esplanade

This is quite a common scene in Singapore. People who bought tickets to attend a musical, play, show,etc.. and always turn up late.

I took this picture just outside the Esplanade windows, it's so brightly lit, you can just look in, and you know instantly these are late comers.

I have this pet peeve against people who turn out late and distract others when they move in.

Fellow DPs from all over the world, does this happen in your city too?
Fellow people in Singapore, do late comers irritate you too?

Sneak Peek at National Day Celebrations @ Marina Bay

It's usually interesting to watch on TV the National Day celebrations.
I was not the lucky few who got the preview tickets, but was nearby to be able to take a few shots of what's in store for...

The Sheares Bridge seems to be spurting out fire! I wonder why....

What are these? Floating octopus looking thingy? I wonder why...

If you are like me wondering why, then let's wait for 9 August!
That's when we can all hear the commentators on TV doing their verbal diarrhea thingy. haha...

A close up of the Ping.sg Plaque - celebrates with the NDP Rehearsal Fireworks

First of all, A BIG THANKS! to those who have voted for this blog. It won the best ping.sg PhotoBlog award.

I would like to thank:
- The Voters, that's you.
- My two sony cameras.
- Blogspot for hosting it.
- Daily Photo Bloggers around the world! You all inspired this blog.

Anyway, if you are interested, this is the plaque that this blog won.

While others went elsewhere for the post celebration party, I went over to the Marina Bay to catch the fireworks! It's the Singapore National Day celebration rehearsal.

For visitors from overseas, Singapore celebrates her National Day on the 9th August. A big huge party/event is held on National Day, and it will be beamed on all the terrestrial TV Channels. Those who managed to get tickets will attend the event live. Today, they are having one of the few rehearsals.

Building goes through Extreme Makeover

Was told that this is the first time this building is having a major paint job. All the tiny cracks are patched, old paints stripped and all ready for a new coat of paint.

Soon, this building will look tall and pretty again.

Will you go through an extreme makeover just like the TV show with the same name?

Flea Market at Far East Square

Flea markets are getting popular. You see people selling all sorts of 'junk' or 'treasures' depending on how you see it. This is a flea market at Far East Square in Singapore.

Are you a junk collector? hehe.. ie. do you throw away unnecessary stuff or you keep everything and anything

A Smiling Church from 1889

The Telok Ayer Chinese Methodist Church sits at the Financial District. It's like a dwalf building among the super high rise surrounding it.

This picture is taken during the night. It has a very interesting architecture dont' you think so?
Do you see a smiley face? It seems to be smiling at you.

Paid to abseil - doing what you love and enjoy

Colleagues and I, we were having lunch and we saw these people cleaning the glass and aluminum facade of a building.

Halfway through lunch, we saw these people reaching the bottom and taking a rest. They have smiles on their faces. A colleague mentioned, they must love their job. Most probably they love abseiling and with this job, they get paid to do it!

Do you like your current job?

p/s This is a very common scene in Singapore. That's how Singapore buildings look clean!
