Today's so so warm! Just a few days ago, it was so wet!
Hoping it will be a cool day without much rain tomorrow. Possible?
A photo of a truck that we passed by, below the blue cover are humans. It suddenly rained and they took out large sheet of plastic and covered themselves.

Every now and then, you hear helicopters flying over you. I happen to be walking home and heard it and managed to take a shot of it.
There was three of it flying together. I was too slow in getting out my camera, so I only managed to capture two of it.
Rehearsal for the coming National Day celebrations perhaps?

Last Saturday evening at around 6pm.
Hundreds and maybe it's thousands of people sat on the lawns of Fort Canning Green to watch 15th edition of "Ballet under the Stars". "Ballet under the Stars" is a performance by the Singapore Dance Theatre.
This photo shows the people entering into Fort Canning Green.
(Not for me though, it's too humid in Singapore to sit on the lawn with hundreds of people. I also can't appreciate dance. )

Some of the bloggers I know are doing this 24 hour blogathon. Guess where are they blogging from? From a department store's display window on Orchard Road.
You can read more about it at: http://www.tangs.com.sg/blogathon/
They started at 6 pm yesterday and will stop at 6 pm today. There are two winners who will walk away with some prizes.
If you want to support them, head down to Tangs. I did and took some photos.
It kind of reminds me of the Myer Windows in Melbourne. Almost everyone in Melbourne will visit the Myer Window display each Christmas.
This is Claudia from http://claudia.sg
This is DK from http://blog.dk.sg/
These two are Aaron and Hillary.
Aaron's known as Geekonomics and writes on CNET Asia. (http://asia.cnet.com/blogs/geekonomics/)
Hillary's column is High on a Hill on CNET Asia. (http://asia.cnet.com/blogs/high-on-a-hill/)
Who will win?
Two hours more to vote for them if you happen to go down to Tangs Orchard Road.

I never knew this place existed until we were waiting for the traffic lights to turn green. I glanced and saw that it's a backpacker's hostel.
They don't use the word backpackers, but flashpackers. There's a boutique word too!
I was curious why they call themselves a boutique flashpacker's hostel.
Well, take a look their website: http://www.habitat-hostels.com.sg/ or facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Singapore-City-Singapore/Habitat-Hostel-The-Boutique-Flashpackers-Hostel-Singapore/46632193756
It's quite interesting. :-)
Do you stay in hostels or hotels when you travel?

Some "Cold Storage" branded supermarkets have this new high tech shopping carts in their stores. I have yet to hold one of it (I just took a photo of this poster), but it reminded me of an assignment for one of the modules of my Masters course I took around 6 years ago.
My group mates and I came out with a business proposal and our topic was about these shopping carts! Our Professor did not really think it was a feasible idea and thought no one will implement it. But look, someone did! ( I think I still have the assignment and his remarks!)
Not sure what the function of this cart has, but our proposal had sensors on both carts and around the store that can keep track of user behaviour and show relevant promotion as they go through the aisles. There were many other things too, but I can't remember the details.
If you want to see how the cart looks like, look at ZS's blog post here. You can click on the photo of his daughter on the cart to expand it. ;-)

The queue at Singtel Comcenter yesterday. The 3rd day of the launched of the Apple iPhone 3GS in Singapore and there's still a lot of people queuing for it.
They really have the patience. This photo was taken at 12:37 PM.
These people most probably queued from 10 AM. They will finally get their phone at around 2 PM.
(No Fastpass like in Disneyland though. LOL)
Sources said they were fed 3 kinds of cheese crackers to keep them happy.
Some people here still look very excited, some are visibly very tired.

At the ground floor of this building since last night, there was a long queue of people all waiting to get their iPhone 3GS.
Momo was to collect her iPhone last night, but got an apology phone call from Singtel that her pre-order on the web had disappeared. She had got a call the day earlier saying their technical glitch on her orders has been solved and go queue on Friday night. Now, she has to go on Sunday instead.
Ah.. technical glitches.... Anyone encountered the same problem? ;-p

When you messages like this appearing on the traffic display board, you know you are in for traffic jams ahead.
How long does it take you to get to work? I take 20 mins by bus if traffic's smooth (which is rare during morning peak hours). Usually it takes around 40 mins.

Saw this at VivoCity on Sunday.
6 drummers drumming away can really attract a crowd. Kids were especially attracted to them.
OK, not only kids. Adults too.
Teenagers especially want to join in!
Saw this teenager, suddenly joining in behind the drummers to 'play the fool'. :-)

Saw at the rooftop of VivoCity. Singa the Courtesy Lion wears a mask.
It's not the culture in Singapore to wear a mask when you are not feeling well.
It's very very rare to see someone wears a mask, unless you are in a clinic or hospital. There's a stigma with masks and it's hard to convince people.
I wore one last week, just for like 10 mins only. ;-p

I turned around and got shocked! A hand got squashed! I think I might have distracted Momo who was driving and another friend in the car.
Then we realised it was just the taxi driver and his sense of humour!
He saw my shocked face and smiled. When I took out my camera, he posed for me by putting his hand on the screen. LOL!
This guy is funny! He even plastered his whole taxi with the national flag!

Friday 3 July 2009, my colleague 'wire' is a happy man. He got his new PEN. The Olympus PEN EP1.
I think he might be one of the earlier people in Singapore to get hold of it. Just like he was the first few who got the MacBook Air when it was first launched.
Read what he thinks of his new toy at his very techie blog at: http://prstat.blogspot.com/
That's my messy desk at work in the background of the photo. :-p
Update: if you want to see a youtube video of this commercial that's very interesting, click here.

Hey! We are now starting the 2nd half of the year. It's 1 July!
The first day of the month is the City Daily Photo's Theme Day. The theme for this month is : "Empty".
Afraid that water supply in this island will run 'empty' one day, Singapore began to recycle sewerage. Yes, it's what you are thinking. The thing that you flush from the toilet gets transformed into pure and clean water, suitable for drinking!
The water from the tap we drink in Singapore has been mixed with Newater. The above are bottled version of Newater. They really taste quite ok. LOL...
You can read more about Newater at the PUB's (Public Utilities Board) website or from Wiki.
