Pretty Yellow Bird

My aunt became a part time 'nurse' last week or so. She was nursing this bird that was found very weak nearby. It's leg seems to hurt as it can't stand or walk. The wings also seems to be hurt.

My aunt used 'human' treatment to treat the bird's legs and wings. When she told us, we all laughed, but it did make sense.

She left the bird on her patio and fed and cared for it for 3 days. The bird seems happy living there. It was a lazy bird. It just perched near the pots.

Pretty Yellow Bird

On the day I went to visit it, the bird seems to be all right.  We knew this bird is ready to say bye bye. So we decided to take some photos before we said good bye. This bird is vain! When we took out our cameras, the bird started to stand and pose!

The bird also started to chirp and we heard other birds nearby chirping back! They seem to be communicating. They took turns to chirp! (I actually recorded the bird's chirp on my phone!)

We think the other bird gave instructions to this pretty yellow bird how to leave! The bird then  perched at the window and looked down. Then it jumped off! My cousin screamed when we saw the bird started dropping directly down from the 9th floor.

When it fell for around 3 floors, the bird finally decide to spread its wings! It then flew so gracefully and started to lift off and flew to the huge tree around 100 metres away. Phew!

Good bye yellow bird!

Anyone know what species this bird is?

Bird Control Specialist

A colleague said, take the photo and post it.

Only birds in the Jurong Bird Parks are 'well behaved'.

For many others, especially the crows, mynah and pigeons. Many people consider them pest!
They shit on cars, clothings that are hung out to dry, some even target people walking on the streets!

So who do you call when you see the hated pests?
The town council, building management etc.
Who do they call? The Bird Control Specialist!

Scaring the birds.

We were naughty. Just to take a photo, we made some loud noise, and the birds flew up.

Should not have done it, remembered that these birds might carry flu with them. Arrghh... LOL..

To feed or not to feed?

Seen on the back street or a restaurant. The restaurant owner has been feeding the birds.

Do you think the birds should be fed?

Closer look at Egret at NUS.

Normally the Egret would fly away rather quickly when humans go near them. But I think this bird's a poser. He posed for me. haha...

If you are wondering where this photo was taken? This bird lives in the grass patches at the National University of Singapore.

You get to see many of them around. It looks like it can't fly eh? But they do fly and fly very gracefully too.

If you want to hear many types of birds chirping, many species of birds can be spotted along the big trees along the buildings between Yusof Ishak House and University Hall. Their sharp eye and ears can spot and hear the different chirps of the birds.

Egret

After lunch one day, collegues and I saw this bird feeling kinda lonely.

It was hunting for food. No, we were good, we did not try to feed it any human food. We left it to look for its own food.

Colleague who is a nature lover said, that's an Egret. If you do an online search I think you can find that it looks most similar to Intermediate Egret.
