Adventures of 2 Girls...

If you would like to read a very interesting book of how 2 best friends from Singapore travel around the world, pick up this book!

"Adventures of 2 Girls".

AdventuresOf2Girls

I was following them on their journey on 'instagram' over the months and when the book finally is out, you read the 'full story'!

Ning Cai is a magician and Pamelo Ho a journalist.
I bought the hardcopy and got them to sign it at a meet the author event.

If you are in Singapore, you can get it at most bookshops.
If you are elsewhere, amazon.com sells it too!

Home Just Got Closer

Once in a while, we have 'these' booklets delivered to all our homes to influence our thinking to the way we "are" to be in Singapore.

Home Just Got Closer

Oops, someone at home said, more propaganda.

We flipped through it, it's quite an interesting read.
Err... we at home still prefer to flip through the Ikea catalogue that came just a few weeks ago!

Old Books...

I guess everyone is doing 'spring cleaning' now in preparation for the Lunar New Year. It's time to give away things that you might need anymore.

This is a pile of old books that a more 'senior' colleague gave to two other colleagues who had young kids. (all below 5 years old)

The few of us were shocked when we heard these are the books she read to her little ones when they were young.  The senior colleague will just read it as bed time stories?!?! (to kids that young??)

You know something? I have not read a single book in this pile!

old books

Oh.. btw, the colleague who read to her kid when she was young, it's a 50-50 success rate. The eldest daughter went into the 'gifted programme' in school. The younger one is just doing ok.

Question of the day: Have you started your spring cleaning?

Was at Kinokuniya Books today and was given a free comic book. It happens to be a meet-the-artists session. This photo of the artist from Imaginary Friends Studios signing autographs.

Found out who they are from the Kinokuniya Website:

Here’s a chance to meet the team of comic artists behind Imaginary #1 and find out more about upcoming comic releases Hercules, Caliber, Freedom Formula and Khrome in this exclusive session at Kinokuniya Singapore Main Store, Crossroads!

A collaboration between Singapore’s Imaginary Friends Studio and United States of America’s Radical Publishing, Imaginary #1 is a collection of sneak peeks into the four upcoming comic titles. Written by big names such as Steve Moore of British weekly sci-fi comic 2000AD and Steve Niles of the movie 30 Days of Night, these titles are not to be missed by comic lovers!

Look out for future developments on two of the titles Hercules and Caliber, which will be adapted onto the big screen with the latter produced by Johhny Depp and directed by John Woo.

towkay ho seh boh? ... how to become a successful towkay.

I was given this book to read. It's really a good read and a hilarious one too. It's something very Singaporean because of the language is a mixture of Singlish and Hokkien.

(Singlish is the so called Singapore version of unofficial spoken English. Something like how Aussies have English words that only they will understand, or pidgen English spoken by some of my friends from Solomon Islands and Samoa that I dont understand. Hokkien is a Chinese dialect spoken widely in Singapore.)

If you have your enough of Drucker or Harvard Business Case Studies, get hold of a copy of this. It has very good business do's and don'ts.

Some chapters inside: (I think people in Singapore and Malaysia will laugh)
- Zou Seng Li Ai Gan Dan (Business ideas must be simple)
- Mai Zuo Number One (Don't be Number One)
- Ka Ka Lai Lah! (Be Brave!)
- Lao Sit Si Pun Ji (Honesty is your Capital)
- Tae Suah Liat Boh Tua Hee (A Short Fishing line never catches a Big Fish)
- Bao Shua Bao Hai (Do Everything in the beginning)
- Lang Kon GST, Wa Kong ERP ( Others Say GST, I say ERP)
- Mai Zuo Lao Gao (Don't be a monkey)
- Ji Tua Tua, Thang Dua Lui (Big Aspirations, Big Money)
- Gang Lang Ma Si Lang (Employees are Humans too)
- many many more... haha...

It is published by Rank Books. www.rankbooks.com
ISBN: 978-981-05-9638-5

How To Make People Like You in 90 seconds.

So busy today doing so many things, that I forgot to do my posting for today! Here's something I pull out from my archives. It just caught my eye.

It was a picture taken at some courses that I went for at my workplace. Oops, I have already forgotten what course it was. It must be some communications course that I went to. This book is one of the reference book. Nope, I did not read it :-)

Why? Because I am already well loved? hahaha... Maybe I should have read it.
