Future Memory Pavillion @ National Museum of Singapore

I was at the National Museum of Singapore 2 weeks ago and took this photo.
How unique it is to have cubes of ice blocks out in the sun and letting them melt!

Future Memory Pavillion

It's only after reading what it is all about then you realise the significance of it.

Do you know that long long ago, before there were refrigeration and ice making machines, Singapore imported ice blocks from countries with cold climate?

It's quite interesting!

Quest for Immortality @ National Museum of Singapore

It was the last day of the "Quest for Immortality" exhibition at National Museum of Singapore yesterday.

I had a free entrance ticket (the special gallery costs $15 to enter usually) and thought I should use it since it is the last day of the exhibition. When I got there, there were long queues everywhere!

It was the Museum Open Day and all the different galleries were free for all! Everyone was there for the freebie day. (My free ticket was useless! It was free for all!)

I SMS my cousin and let her know and she and her dad came too!
Just showing one set of photos from the exhibition.

The queue to this particular gallery was long. Even MediaCrop TV crew were there to interview the public.
I like the expression of the little boy!

Long queues...

When we left the National Museum, we saw the queue was all the way out to the road outside!

Pedas pedas by Kumari Nahappan

I think this is very nice. Dried Chilli and it's named Pedas Pedas (Very Spicy / Hot).

It's located at the back of the National Museum of Singapore.

National Museum of Singapore

We usually look at the front of the National Museum of Singapore.

But if we walk to the back, it's not too bad too. I like the way the words have like double image. There's two layers of it.

Visit the museums for free till 15 Aug...

One thing about visiting UK is that museums are free! So, lots of visitors never fail to visit the museums there.

Will that be possible in Singapore? Oh yes, from 1 - 15 August 2008. The museums are free if you enter after 3 pm. (why not the whole day I wonder...)

Momo, sis and I went to the museum on the 25th of last month. We saw many things that we have not seen since we were little kids. Some of it looks familiar, others, we were not even born yet!

From the bottles above, we only remember the Yeo's soya bean and Kickapoo Joy Juice.
(my bro recently told me, Kickapoo is actually not Asian like many of us grew up to know!)

These museums are free to visit till 15 Aug. (after 3pm)
Asian Civilisations Museum, Memories At Old Ford Factory, National Archives of Singapore, National Museum of Singapore, Peranakan Museum, Reflections at Bukit Chandu, Singapore Art Museum and Singapore Philatelic Museum.

National Museum of Singapore. oh how colourful...

I only took 9 photos of the transformation. For each change you got to wait 5 mins. My legs were tired. ;-)

Can you spot the big butterfly?

This looks like a chalk board.

Hmm batik?

Hope you enjoyed it. I wonder how many different patterns are there...

National Museum of Singapore changes 'skin'...

More photos from yesterday...

It looks like a jungle out there!

Creepy crawlies..

Red walls..

The 'skin' changes every 5 mins or so. The crowd just gives out a loud 'wow' everytime a new 'skin' appears. Fascinating!
