Slouching Tree...

Thought this tree was unique. It's slouching...
It's amazing how trees can still grow despite it being in a weird position.

Slouching Tree at East Coast Park

I have a feeling it was falling and the branches were all cut off.
It decided to live and sprouted new branches.

Humans should be like that right? Persevere on...

Tree Planting Singapore Style

What is this photo showing?
Tree planting Singapore style! An hour before this photo was taken, it was just a green patch of grass.

A moment later, foreign workers (a species that Singapore folks always complain about, but really can't live without them, just like Singapore folks and air-conditioning) are there to dig a big hole in the ground and then with their hurculean strength (with the help of machines) puts the plants in place.

They will then cover up the soil with some new grass patch and tada! a beautiful manicured garden.

Tree Planting Singapore Style

We all live in instant world, and I think I like the way they plant tress in Singapore.
Everything looks so nice instantly.

But I wonder if the roots of these trees will go deep enough into the ground. Will they survive when there is a thunderstorm? I think their roots are shallow and don't go deep in the ground.

Tree Planting Singapore Style

Here's another bigger tree that's going to be transplanted into the ground.
I wonder if these trees are planted in Singapore or is it from Johor, Malaysia?
Talking about trees, do you also know that in Singapore there is something called a Heritage Tree?
It's something like a Heritage building, that is earmarked to be preserved.

Heritage Trees are trees that has gracefully matured in this country over the years (and I am pretty sure, instant trees above are excluded even if they have lived here for a long time). In Singapore, trees and buildings have to always give way to the so called 'renewal process'. Heritage trees are given immunity just like in the reality show "Survivor".

Flowers all dropping..

I took this photo around 1 week ago, when I was rushing to work.
Since I am rushing, so I just quickly took a snap of it and it seems over exposed.

Flowers all fallen...

It's still early, so the cleaners have not swept the streets yet. I saw white-pinkish flowers all over! It looks so beautiful!

The tree was covered with the flower and the flowers have been dropping slowly to the ground. It's raining flowers! The place was so beautiful!

Trees with white berries

I have been noticing these trees having white fluffy stuff on it the last few weeks.

Singapore has the so called 'sakura' flower trees, but these white plants are a bit different.
They do not have the pink flowers, and the leaves of these trees are still in tact.

White berries Trees

They look quite nice when you are near it.
It looks like white berries.

Anyone botanist out there knows what is this plant called?

Clementi

It has been some time since I went to Clementi.  I realise the new HDB flats they have been building these few years are almost completed. This block has been painted and looks ready.

I also noticed these trees now look trimmed and new leaves are growing. They finally cut off the top of the trees and let new leaves grow again. These trees had lots (and I really mean LOTS) of birds on them previously.

Anyone walking there is a potential target for the birds. They dropped "presents" on people walking in the area and cars parked there. LOL

No mosquito larvae welcomed

Did you notice anything unusual? The tree has 'cement' spread into areas that could potentially hold water.

It must be the work of overly enthusiastic council workers. Probably dengue cases are on the rise?
Mosquitoes have no chance of breeding here. (yey!)

No mosquito larvae allowed

The trees are flowering....

Many trees are flowering all over Singapore. Singapore's version of 'sakura'. ;-)

I saw this and just had to take a photo of it.
Look at the ground. It's full of the red flowers too!

Flowering Trees

I am not sure what the species of this tree is though. Do you?

Protected Tree

Saw this big old tree and beside it a small yellow sign stating it is protected.

Have you planted a tree before?

Outside: Botak Trees Icon, Inside: Real Botak Trees.

I was walking around Orchard Road, and the new development that is coming up called Orchard Turn. They had the contruction barriers that had pictures botak (bald in Malay) trees. When you peek inside, you can really see botak trees!

Wonder if the trees will get a new home. Many trees in Singapore shift homes. If they have good owners, they might be transplanted somewhere else and continue to grow...
