Last day of Logos Hope docking at VivoCity, Singapore

I remember when I was young, dad will bring us up MV Doulos where we will pester him to get us books. The Doulos has since retired and the sister ship, Logos Hope is the only floating bookshop left sailing around the world.

Today's the last day that Logos Hope's bookshop will be open to public. It's open till 10 PM tonight if you want to visit the ship. Entrance is free. A few days later, the ship will sail to Cebu, the Philippines.

I went up the ship last night and bought a book.

I did not take many photos, if you want to know more about this ship and the ministry of bringing books around the world, visit: http://www.gbaships.org/

MV Doulos last port of call @ VivoCity

Colleagues and I happened to be at VivoCity for our 'unit' lunch and saw MV Doulos there. It's so sad that this would be her last port of call. It will be decommissioned very soon as it is costing too much to make it sea-worthy.

Doulos is the world's oldest ocean-going passenger ship. It's now 95 years old. I remember visiting it when I was a little kid with my parents.

MV Doulos last port of call

If you are looking for books to buy for children or Christian books, it's having a great great sale. Some last minute presents perhaps?

I think it's opened till 31 December 2009. For more info about Doulos, visit their website at www.omships.org

Flower Tree @ VivoCity

I last posted this in 2006. One thing about nice about this tree is that it is still flowering!

But the tree seems to have been moved to a different location. :-)

Flower Tree VivoCity

It's called Flower Tree and it's 6 metre talls and it's an artwork by Korean Artist Choi Jeong-Hwa.

Guitarist with the VivoCity Drummer Boys

Just when you caught someone posing behind the drummers yesterday, here's another guy who was using the pedal as a guitar.

VivoCity Drummer Boys

The cheeky boy made everyone around laughed. Even the drummers themselves were laughing.

VivoCity Drummer Boys

Saw this at VivoCity on Sunday.
6 drummers drumming away can really attract a crowd. Kids were especially attracted to them.

VivoCity Drummer Boys

OK, not only kids. Adults too.

Teenagers especially want to join in!
Saw this teenager, suddenly joining in behind the drummers to 'play the fool'. :-)

Flooding on the roof top

Flooding on the roof top? No, it's just a giant wadding pool on top of a shopping mall.

On the background, the national birds of Singapore - the Cranes. ;-p

Vivo City Rooftop

There are many kids (and adults too) enjoying themselves at the (quite huge) wadding pool at the roof top of Vivo City.

The kid seems to be enjoying himself!

The Vivo Tree in the day time...

The Vivo City Christmas tree in the daytime.

I seem to come here only in the evenings. I had a rare opportunity to visit it in the day this time.

Big Tree, but oops...

Was having dinner at Vivo City and saw this big tree. Everyone's posing with it.
The tree must be feeling proud.

Maybe except that it has a 'bald spot'. Hmm one part of the lights have already burnt off?

Are you brand conscious?

After posting yesterday's photo, I realise I took a similar shot at Vivo City too just one or two weeks ago. You can see the roof top 'playground' of Vivo City on this picture as well.

I guess the brands here are different from the ones yesterday.

How many products from the brands do you own?
Are you brand conscious?

Apple Monitors & Apple Keyboards for Information Kiosk @ Vivo City

Wow, doesn't it look nice? Vivo City, one of the newer shopping mall in Singapore recently had this new information kiosk that's also a Visa Card promo kiosk. Look, they are using high resolution Apple Monitors and the new slim Apple Keyboards.

There are a few of it side by side as well.

I guess the Apple products looks so good, they do not really need to mask it up. Most kiosk have the monitor enclosed in some boxes.

So... Do you own any Apple products?

Free Massage by Mary Chia @ Vivo City

Yesterday while walking around a shopping mall, I saw this..
Free 10 min massages. I guess it must be what busy shoppers in this shopping mall needed.

You like massages? Errrr. I don't. haha...
Have a good weekend. Greater if you like massage and someone massages for you this weekend...
(or queue up at Vivocity. haha....)

Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley resurrects at Vivo City

This was taken a few weeks back. I saw Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley come alive at one of the shopping centres in Singapore.

Are you a Elvis Presley fan? Or are you totally out of the generation?

More Donuts craze: Doughnalisa at Vivo City

More donuts craze in Singapore. It seems that donuts is gaining a sudden popularity.

Other than the long queue at Raffles City basement, I saw another donut shop at Vivocity yesterday. We were on our way to have lunch celebrating a colleague's birthday.

So innovative! The picture caught my eye!

No, I did not queue up. Maybe I shall show the donuts picture another day.

(Sorry for the reflections of the glass)

Are you crazy about doughnuts? I wonder when Krispy Kreme will come to Singapore. The franchise fee is reportedly very high. Krispy Kreme is ok eaten straight out of the oven. But you get a sugar high!

OK. I can't spell. Is it doughnuts or donuts.

Aliens landed at Vivo, and left something behind

It was reported that at Vivo City, the Martians have planted an snowman that does not melt. They have also left these little green stuff all around, near the flower beds.

What are the Martians up to? We need the help of visitors to this blog help solve the puzzle.

The Martians left some clues and we need your help. Is it a:
1. Martian Spy Cam
2. Martian water sprinkler system
3. Martian sound system (speakers)
4. Part of the Martian space ship that was left behind.

The first correct person in Singapore to answer, gets a treat Choc shake from Godiva. (I will sponsor this, pic of the prize)

Anyone from overseas who answers it gets a Uniquely Singapore postcard sent to them. They might win a Singapore Airlines flight too! (Singapore Tourism Board will sponsor it, since it's their contest. I will just drop the postcard into the postboxes here :-) )

Where the fish are, there the men shall be..

Is it true? Wherever you can find fish, you will see fishing hobbyist there.

This was taken near at the swanky new shopping mall, Vivo City. There are a few man fishing there, yes, I saw one who caught a crab too!

(Far behind this picture is the Singapore Cruise Centre.)

Is fishing your hobby? I have colleagues who will go hire a boat and they will fish at the South China Sea.

Tourist Series - Vivo Fountain

I saw this and I had to take a photo of it. The little boy was enjoying the strong water gushing up his backside! He must love washing his back. LOL...

This is still in Vivo City. (http://www.vivocity.com.sg) There's a water fountain in front of it that attracts lots of children to be just children. They would go under the water and just get themselves wet!

The architecture of Vivo City is quite unique, very wavy. It's all wavy. Read also Zannnie's (The other Singapore DP blogger) post on Vivo City.

Tourist Series - Vivo Tree

Singapore has a new attraction. It's called Vivo City. A brand new huge shopping complex. It's now partially open, it will formally open 1 December 2006.

I found this amazing tree with so many flowers, and they must be on steriods, they are so huge and colourful!

Since it is in Vivo City, I shall call it Vivo Tree! haha... There should be name for it, but I did not bother to go find out :-p
