Singapore's 1st Eco-Food Court

Obsession with Certification - It's not only Singapore's that obsessed with it, every country in the world is. The latest certification could probably be Eco Friendly Food Courts!

Singapore's 1st Eco-Food Court

This is Singapore's 1st Eco-Food Court.
You can read about what it is about in this news article.

Basically to get certified, they do not use Styrofoam packaging for takeaway food.
The food waste is separated (since 2007! read here) and leftover oil are recycled (into bio diesel).

Lao Pa Sat

One popular food centre at the financial district. It was formerly a wet market.

In Southeast Asia, the largest remaining Victorian filigree cast-iron structure is found here in this building. A view inside would reveal more. This is from the outside, taken last week.

Dim Sum for Supper?

People in Singapore eat anything at anytime. This photo is taken at Newton Food Centre, a touristy place to have a meal. haha...

This lady boss is preparing porridge for my friend. Hmm eating porridge at 10 PM after the movie Stardust.

Out from the bamboo steamers, we had "Kuchai" (chives) dumplings.

Do you eat the whole day long? Are you one who have supper every night?

Newton Food Centre

This might be one of the most famous food centre in Singapore. It is more popular with tourist than with locals. If you have visited Singapore, you most probably have drop by this place.

This is the main entrance of the food centre.

The many people who are eating here.

I had supper tonite with some friends here. It has been a long long time since I step into this place. Oh, the heat! It's amazing how tourist enjoy the heat when they visit Asia, the al-fresco dining thingy, but the locals will always prefer somewhere that there's air-con! haha...

If you wanna see what we ate here, click here.

Have a great mid week!

Where can you find a street full of Satay?

This is just outside Lao Pa Sat, where a street called Boon Tat St gets transformed into this night ly eating place on the street itself. (Provided it does not rain!)

A few days ago, the Satay you see if from this Stall. But this is not the only stall selling Satay.

Look! All these stalls here sells the same thing! Lots of choices!
Many people have their personal favourite. For me, they are all quite ok, except for one or two, that I don't agree with their method of making satay! How can satay be made from mince! ka-pui! haha.. I shall not name which stall here.

I have a friend who has been bugging me of Satay, hmmm maybe this post is dedicated to him? haha....

ABC Market, what a name to give to a market!

Do you know your alphabets? A B C...

There's this market and food centre in Singapore that's called ABC. Any guess why? Is it because no one wanted to come out with a name and someone uttered ABC, and it got stuck? haha...

Well, we asked one of the stall holders there and the truth is revealed. This plot of land where the market is, used to be a brewery that produced ABC Stout. Now you know :-)

There's good food at the ABC Market, hop on a cab and tell the cabby, ABC Market! View my daily food blog to see what's serving today at the Singapura Daily Makan (Food) Photo.
