Double Happiness (Shuang Xi).

This is one of the many patterns/words that was projected on the walls of the Singapore ArtScience Museum during the Light Show in March 2014.

Artificial Rock #71

If you have taken the 'skybridge' from Marina Bay Sands to Gardens by the Bay, you would have seen this rock sculpture.

It's called 'Artificial Rock'. Yes, we all know it's an artificial rock. Makes it sound so cool doesn't it?

Artificial Rock, MBS

This is Artificial Rock No 71.
The sculptor, Zhan Wang has a series of it and the series is call Artificial JiaShanshi.

Zhan Wang's works are all around. It might be in a city that you live in too.

Zhan Wang was at the Singapore Tyler Print Institute before too. View his work here:

Are you the Black Sheep?

Saw from a far the signboard 'The Society of Black Sheep"....

Society of Black Sheep

Then when we got nearer, realised it's a shop selling most things black!

Oh, well, I did not go in, as I don't want to be the black sheep! LOL

LV

Different people see different things.

What do you see here?
I was just looking at this glass building, and I thought to myself, it's a huge jigsaw puzzle!
Look at the sizes of the glass panels, it seems almost every piece is of a different shape and size.

Must be a nightmare fixing them up!

LV

Or maybe it's just optical illusion.
Most of it are of the same size and shape but the eye is tricking you into thinking otherwise.

Glass buildings are attractive don't you think?

Avalon @ MBS

There are two floating structures or they call it Crystal Pavilions at the Marina Bay Sands complex.
One crystal pavilion houses the  LV Island Maison. Avalon occupies the southern crystal pavilion.

Avalon

The design attracts me and don't you think the buildings are 'photogenic'?
I took this photo last Friday afternoon.

One of these days when I am not rushing, I'll get into both buildings. Yes, they are both designed by Moshe Safdie.

Louis Vuitton Island Maison Singapore

Louis Vuitton Island Maison Singapore as seen from one of the Suites at MBS that I was at the other day.

Louis Vuitton Island Maison Singapore

It's Singapore's 5th LV store, and South East Asia's 1st Maison.
The store will be launched on Sept 18, 2011.

The glass and steel pavillions are the works of architect Moshe Safdie as part of the Marina Bay Sands resort. The inside of the pavilion has been designed by Peter Marino.

ArtScience Museum from the top.

I happened to be at a very tall building just beside the ArtScience Museum.
I could not resist not taking a photo of it again. I took and posted a photo of it once here.

ArtScience Museum from the top

So that's where the lights are placed. It produces such a nice glow to the so called 'lotus' leaves.
Rainwater is harvested and channeled down the big 'sink plug' you see in the photo. Part of that water is used in their toilets.

I have not been in there, but I want to go there one of these days before the current exhibition ends.
I must make time to visit the Shipwrecked Tangs Treasures on display now. Must find out which credit card gives discount for the entrance ticket. ;-)

Season's Greetings!

Time passes so quickly! It's almost Christmas time!

MBS Season's Greetings

I was at Marina Bay Sands and the place looks nice with all the glass and lights!
Wishing you a very good start to the month of December!

Sampan Rides

I thought this was rather fun!
You can take sampan rides in air-conditioned comfort in Singapore.

Sampan Ride @ MBS

But it's a really short ride! It's inside a 'river' inside the Marina Bay Sands.
I guess it's mostly meant for tourist or locals with kids who pester their parents to take them for a ride.

The Museum, MBS

The lotus shape thingy on the bottom left of the photo is the upcoming Art and Science Museum at Marina Bay Sands.

The Museum

Looks like the exterior is close to completion. You ca see the cranes cladding the final pieces of the exterior. It's suppose to be a metal and glass structure.

I just did an online search and found out that Lord Cultural Resources has been engaged to facilitate the
project. The same folks that has done jobs for various museums worldwide. I guess we can look forward to what it can offer.

Marina Bay Sands

The Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort 'officially' opens today in Singapore.

This is a photo of the 3 55-storey hotel towers with the Sands Sky Park on top.

If you see that the tower is leaning, it is!
Leaning at a maximum angle of 52 degrees, it is more inclined than the Leaning Tower of Pisa!
I just read that from today's newspaper.

Marina Bay Sands

I am interested to go up to the 340 meter long Sky Park!
Photos from the website are tempting me to get up there!
But I shall wait, wait till their teething problems are all over :-)
