Old Tapes....

These are super old computer tapes from 'once upon a time'.
We are in the midst of shifting offices, and colleagues are packing and throwing away stuff.

Old Computer Tapes

These two tapes are examples of the archaic things we have in our offices.
It is even older than some colleagues! LOL.

Old Computer Tapes

Your mobile phone probably have more storage than these tapes!

Mothar Kasim the Custome Designer

If you have been to plays you would have noticed the costumes that the performer wears.
You are probably like me, not bothered at all who designed it.

Diamonds are Forever - A Dazzling Peranakan party

I was at VivoCity and noticed this little 'exhibition' which is part of the Singapore Arts Festival.
Oh, now I know the person behind the costumes!

You can see the rest of his works if you pop by VivoCity.

Aveo5 Levis

Saw these two cars at VivoCity few days ago.
I was wondering, was it a Chevrolet car promo or was it a Levi's clothing promo.

Aveo5 Levis

Then I realize it is both!
You can actually order the car with the Levi's design on it!

Check out http://chevroletsingapore.com/aveo5-levis

(No this is not an advertorial. I am truly surprised!)
My cousin said, that car does not look so nice. If it's a VW Golf, it would have looked better.  ;-p

Bird Control Specialist

A colleague said, take the photo and post it.

Only birds in the Jurong Bird Parks are 'well behaved'.

For many others, especially the crows, mynah and pigeons. Many people consider them pest!
They shit on cars, clothings that are hung out to dry, some even target people walking on the streets!

bird control specialist

So who do you call when you see the hated pests?
The town council, building management etc.
Who do they call? The Bird Control Specialist!

The Tangs GSS

Saw this earlier this evening.

Wow, I did not know that the Great Singapore Sale (GSS) has started!

The Tangs GSS

Hmm...
GSS is the abbreviation for Great Singapore Sale.
So GSS Sale means the Great Singapore Sale Sale?

Red Ants

A colleague was trying to 'blow' these ants off the railing.
It's not easy though. They seem to be 'stuck'.

Ants seems to be appearing everywhere these few days.
Even our office has few ants visiting. They seem to be wanting to drink our plain water!

redants

Just don't let these pesky insects bite you.
It hurts real bad!

Empress, Clementi

This dilapidated building was once the Empress Cineplex.
This cineplex used to have one of the cheapest movie tickets around.

Empress, Clementi Town Centre

I wonder what is going to happen to this place? If you do an online search, some say they will renovate this place and turn it into a modern cineplex in 2010. It's already 5 months into 2010 and nothing is done.

This is probably one old building around that deserves to be torn down. ;-p

At a team building event...

I was at a company event last Friday.
It was a wellness event and we had to do 'exercises'.

team building event

It was quite a fun day out of the office! ;-p
Do you like attending team building / company events that brings you out of your office?

Chijmes

Earlier today I was attending a conference. During the tea break, I looked out the windows of the conference centre. I saw this and for a while think, this looks a bit like some European city with the Cathedrals.

This is the back view of CHIJMES. (pronounced Chimes)

chijmes

This was a Catholic Convent for 131 years before it was 'commercialized' into an art gallery and restaurants.

If you want to see a virtual reality of Chijmes, click here.

Hazy Days..

I woke up this morning and saw this hazy scene on the way to work.

hazy day

After work, it was still very hazy.
If you take a look at the National Environment Agency's website, it shows the PSI is moderate today. I thought it should be bad instead of moderate!

My eyes are a little teary and itchy. Are you all feeling it too?
It can't be the 'Eyjafjallajokull's ash' all the way from Iceland right?

Bat Mobile Wannabe

On the roads in Singapore, you get to see many cars with the Transformers: Autobots or Decepticons logo on cars.

Bat Mobile Wannabe

But there are still some who are Batman fans. Just like the owner of this car. ;-p

I will be relieved of frequent trips to the toilet

Colleagues and I saw this and smiled (or rather laughed at the way they are promoting their services).

Then we thought this might be a serious matter and not a laughing matter.
I just hope that we won't suffer from this when we get old.

I will be relieved of frequent trips to the toilet

But if we do get the problem, we know where to go to!

Momo and her colleagues participated in the annual J.P.Morgan Corporate Challenge yesterday.

11,753 participants from 369 companies participated. Were you running too?

JP Morgan Corporate Challenge

The race goes on to Grant Park, Chicago next!

I wonder if any runners here will be running in the Chicago race on May 27 too?

The Sign Board @ Malaysia-Singapore Second Link

You don't really see this sign unless you get stuck in the traffic jam on the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link.

It has been 12 years since the Second Link has been opened!

Malaysia-Singapore Second Link

You can see what salty air and the elements does to this sign.
What you see is the official date of opening. The bridge was opened to traffic on 2 Jan 1998.

Pay By Distance

For most people this is good news. Paying by distance taken on public transport will means we will pay less when it's implemented in 3 July 2010.

I think their PR folks have done very well. They have been stressing that we will save money.
They sure keep quiet that starting fares will now be 71 cents instead of 69 cents. ;-)

Pay By Distance

Out of curiosity, I tried to see if we do really save money.
The example they have on their website shows an example how we can save money on a particular route. From Blk 114 Whampoa Road to VivoCity.

But if you try out the TransitLink http://www.transitlink.com.sg/ptjp.html travel planner
or Gothere.sg journey planner at http://gothere.sg/directions#114 whampoa road:vivocity (choose the Bus Option)

You will realise you might be paying more from 3 July!
Hmmm.....

No mosquito larvae welcomed

Did you notice anything unusual? The tree has 'cement' spread into areas that could potentially hold water.

It must be the work of overly enthusiastic council workers. Probably dengue cases are on the rise?
Mosquitoes have no chance of breeding here. (yey!)

No mosquito larvae allowed
