Tiger Balm

Haw Par Villa is also known as Tiger Balm Gardens. Here at the Tiger Balm Gardens, you see a meek tiger holding Tiger Balm products.

Tiger Balm Mascot

Do you all use Tiger Balm?

Err, I don't. I don't like the smell. :-)

The entrance to the Ten Courts of Hell exhibit.

Comments from last Saturday's post speaks of the trauma when young kids visit Haw Par Villa. LOL. Why? I did not have such memories. I remembered too much walking under the sun that's all.

Maybe they went into this exhibit? The $1, visit the Ten Courts of Hell exhibit. This is the entrance. No, my colleagues and I did not pay $1 to walk in. haha...

Haw Par Villa

Do you believe that there's a real hell when you die?
I believe hell's a place a fiery furnace where there is always weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Haw Par Villa - Only $1 to visit Hell.

Haw Par Villa, I have not been here in the day since I was a little kid! I can't remember what was here. It's a Chinese fantasy or mythological theme park. Admission is free.

Haw Par Villa Entrance

There's a Ten Courts of Hell exhibit though. But to go to Hell, you need to pay $1. LOL...

You can read more about this place at the Uniquely Singapore website or at Wikipedia.

Haw Par Villa Station

Was passing by the overhead bridge to Haw Par Villa. Saw that the construction has progressed a lot.

They look like they are at the top most level and might cover up this huge hole they have created.

Haw Par Villa MRT Station

Most probably the road diversion might end and it will be a straight road again. ;-)

TV Mobile.

TV shows on buses. Some people hate it, but some like it. For most people, we have got used to it! For me, I seem to enjoy it more and more. It does entertain you on long rides.

tv mobile

I realised something. The newer SBS Transit buses do not have TV Mobile, it's only the older fleet that's rickety that has it.

You can see the condition of this bus. LOL! They even have a paper to hold the rear view mirror in place for the bus driver.

MOE

The windows of the Ministry of Education building.

Ministry of Education Building

Lots of news have been coming out of the people sitting behind these windows. Thanks to H1N1, these people are working very hard to coordinate and plan all sorts of contingency plans.

This week, almost all the teachers are back in school making phone calls to all their students. Asking for their travel history amongst other questions. If you are a student in Singapore, did u receive a call from your teacher?

Beauty World Station

Beauty World is one Singapore musical written about a Malaysian girl from Batu Pahat coming to Singapore to search for her father in the 1960s. But that's the musical.

Beauty World also refers to two 'archaic' shopping centre at Upper Bukit Timah in Singapore. There's Bukit World Plaza and Bukit World Shopping Centre. When you step into it, you might think you stepped into the 60s or 70s (or maybe 80s) Singapore. LOL...

Construction of Beauty World Station

Now there's an additional Beauty World. Beauty World MRT Station. It's suppose to be ready in 2015. With the new MRT lines having beautifully designed stations, I wonder how this station will look like.

XL or XXXXXXXXL size for you?

Sis and I were doing our groceries shopping at Bukit Timah Plaza. On our way out, we saw the signboard that has so many XXX on it.

How many X in XL do you need?

It's a shop that sells really really huge size clothing!

How many X in XL do you need?

Sis said I should post this up as a service to those who needs to find such shop. ;-)
We were wondering, how come there's no GSS specials?

Photos on the wall.

Some of the photos I took was on this 'wall'.

life is viewti-ful

It's now over, it was the wall at the LG Booth at CommunicAsia. It was reported in the newspapers that less and less people are attending this trade show.

Do you like attending trade shows?

Photo taken using LG Viewty Smart: CommunicAsia LG Booth

I took these photos at the LG Booth at CommunicAsia. It was where they had this miniature set up of a small village where the LG Viewty Smart phones are there for people to try taking photos.

LG booth display

I kinda like how this photo turns out. The background's all blurred out and the focus is on the green car. I definitely can't do this on my older camera phone!

LG booth display

The photos have only being resized, and not 'photoshopped' with effects. Not too bad eh?

But I have not been able to get photos that look satisfactory for food photo taking though. :-)

Photos taken using LG Viewty Smart: LG Booth at CommunicAsia

If you want to touch and hold the various models of the LG Phones, you can head down to CommunicAsia 2009. It's for Trade and Business visitors only though. But you can alwways register using your business card to get in. It closes tomorrow.

A few of us bloggers took leave and went there to give our feedback on how the LG Viewty Smart phone was to the LG guys who came from Korea. I took these photos using the Viewty Smart again.

The original photo resized only.

LG Booth @ CommunicAsia

The same photo 'enhanced' using Adobe software on my PC.

There's also a photo editing function on the camera phone! But I have not fiddled enough yet to show how the photos will turn out.

LGBooth @ CommunicAsia

There are more and more camera phones around, from LG and also its competitor just across the LG booth. Do you think that in 2 years time, everyone will just carry camera phones because the quality is getting better? I have 2 previous phones (one of it LG too) that has camera function that is absolutely crap. LOL...

Of course it's not DSLR quality or those of the higher end point and shoot. "Soon...." We hope that LG will have enough time to enhance the beta software based on the feedback that we gave them. Our phones were only loaded with beta software.

This phone we heard will be launched in Singapore in July.

You should take a look at how a professional photographer can take beautiful photos with a camera phone! I am like WOW! Visit Tetanus's site at: http://atinyblip.com/

Photo taken using LG Viewty Smart: It must have bean love

Thought this is such a cool play with words. It must have "bean" love. LOL..
(By the way, I am not a coffee drinker.)

It must have bean love

Guess what, after I saw this, the song "It must have been love" has been ringing in my head. arrghh... I hate this ringing in my head tunes. Errr how about I get it ringing in your head too? Listen to it at this youtube link. LOL

Ya, another photo taken using the LG Viewty Smart camera. If you are in Singapore, hop over these few days to CommunicAsia 2009 to view it.

Photo taken using LG Viewty Smart: Wash your hands

This poster has been appearing almost everywhere since H1N1 became a 'hip' acronym. Everyone has been reminded to wash their hands.

Even kids has been reminded with this song by the Health Promotion Board.
MP3 here. Lyrics here. I like this song that it's now my phone's ringtone. LOL..

Wash your hands

Another photo taken by the LG Viewty Smart. I only took 1 shot of this. It's not too bad for a night shot especially if it's from a camera phone. ;-p

Photo taken using LG Viewty Smart: Movie Tix

Just the other day, our project team at work was treated to a movie. Was told it was made possible by the kind sponsorship of our vendor.

It says NATM 2. Do you know what it stands for? LOL.
It was quite a good movie, I have not watched any movie for the longest time!

Movie Tix

Was trying out taking macro photos using the LG Viewty Smart.
Quite good considering it's a phone right? Only a resizing was done.

Photo taken using LG Viewty Smart: Transformer Building

Not sure if you are a Transformers fan, the newest movie will be out later this month.

This photo is of the Singapore Power building. I am sure there are lots of 'real' transformers inside there! Doesn't it look so robotic?

Singapore Power Building

Photo taken using the upcoming LG Viewty Smart. Only resizing to a width of 650 pixels and the watermark added.

Photo taken using LG Viewty Smart: Wet Paint

I was invited to an event around last week by LG Singapore and got my hands on the LG Viewty Smart mobile phone. Why did I go? I am a current user of an LG Phone, (KS20), and I was looking to replace my phone and came this invite. So why not? ;-)

I am not a phone reviewer, so am not doing the typical phone review, you can do an online search and read all about it on the various technical websites.
(or click here or here to see what these two other bloggers think of the same phone)

What I will do is to show the photos that I took using the LG Viewty Smart (or GC900) for the next few days till the phone is officially launched.

Wet paint signs that you see all the time in Singapore.

Wet Paint

Wet Paint

Photos are as it is. Not 'photoshopped', just resized smaller to the width of 650 pixels like other photos on this blog.

PC Show 2009

It's the PC Show time again. Oh... there are just too many people around.

PC Show 09

People who are wanting to get new gadgets have waited long enough and today they zoomed down. Met a friend who bought a new DSLR too, the same model as mine ;-)

No, I did not buy a single item at all. One thing that caught my eye was the iRobot. Maybe I shall be the robot that cleans up at home and save the money for food. LOL...

The Chilli Crab

You saw the killing of the crab in yesterday's post. This is the happily ever after ending. (for the humans of course...)

Chilli Crabs

Oh! So yummy! You can easily prepare this at home. When you visit Singapore, just remember to buy back packets of sauces for chilli crabs. They are really easy to prepare.

Remembered long ago, friends and I prepared chilli crabs in their apartment in Sydney. I was on holiday and brought in boxes of sauces and Sydney has great fresh and big crabs. We did something similar to the photo above. ;-)

(If you want to see the cooking process, click here.)

Crabs

These crabs being killed by the fish monger for us. We bought a few crabs and the fish monger is helping us kill it. Killing it ourselves can be quite traumatic at home. LOL!

Killing Crabs

There are many ways to kill crabs, how do you do it?

Dinner was Chilli Crabs & Butter Crabs. Do you like to eat crabs?

Now: ION Orchard, Then: big picnic field

The brights lights are being tested at ION Orchard.

ION Orchard

I was just thinking, just before this building was up, it was a patch of green. The patch was green was a mini Philippines on Sundays. You always see Filipinos enjoying themselves having a big huge picnic!

New shopping mall: Orchard Central

Walked into this new shopping mall today. It is now partially opened. Shops that are currently open did not interest us so we walked out. ;-)

orchard central

This building has bright lights too! More bright lights on Orchard Road. It makes the whole place feels so new and different.

Park Hotel Renovation

One of the hotels that are being renovated in Orchard Road. Closed for renovation since 1 April, it will reopen in second quarter in 2010.

Park Hotel Renovation

It's so rare to see the windows open in this building. In fact I have never seen it! During the normal operation, I doubt any guests in the hotel will open the windows. It's so so so so hot these few weeks in Singapore.

The Sail @ Marina Bay

Was here yesterday, at The Sail @ Marina Bay.

"The Sail @ Marina Bay"

(bigger resolution photo of it here.)

I was here to collect my apartment keys. Ya right!
I can't afford to stay here. Unless someone decides to donate an apartment here to me. LOL..

This view is not the usual view you see on the brochures. You should look at their publicity website to see why it's called the Sail.

I was here to preview a new gadget that will be launched Singapore very soon.

Temp Tekka Market @ Racecourse Road

A very popular 'wet market' in Singapore, the Tekka Market is undergoing renovations at the original site.

This is the temporary market at Racecourse Road.

The Temp Little India Food Centre

Guess what everyone's here for? The variety of Indian food! Yummy!

What a pink Fiat 500! It's a barbie doll car.

Saw this at a shopping mall. No one can ever miss it!
It's so pink!

And look, it's filled with so many Barbie dolls inside.

What a pink Fiat 500! It's a barbie doll car.

And at any time, you see people posing with the car :-)
It's too pink for my liking.

June City Daily Photo Theme Day: Feet

It's the 1st of the month again, and it's the Daily Photo Theme Day. The theme for this month is Feet. This is an old photo I pulled out from my archives.

Chicken Feet! A delicacy that is enjoyed by many here in Singapore. (And disgusted by an equal number of people too! LOL)

Do people in your city/country eat chicken feet too?
