Today is the International No Smoking Day.

Spotted at Plaza Singapura, a guy wearing a poster telling people that smoking causes mouth diseases.

Yes, its Tarboro. You know what that means.

There's a QUIT Line by the Health Promotion Board.

Crown Plaza Changi Airport

This is the new US$60 million (S$84 million) hotel that is opening in Changi Airport's Terminal 3.

Heard that it offers in-house guests an iPod loaded with a variety of music designed to soothe travellers that have just landed. The iPod can be slotted into the iPod docking station in every guest room.

Sounds cool huh...

Children enjoying their time at the "Forest Adventure". A company that organizes tree top activities. Momo was scouting team building activities that her company mates can enjoy together.

Do you enjoy company team bonding activities? :-)
I hope some people absolutely love them and some avoid them like pest.

And the winners...

The trophies sitting there for its new owners at yesterday's Akira/Swift 55th Annual Track & Field Championships 2008.

Everyone's a winner in sports.

Our cousin said she lost to the first team by half a second. The results of the 1st and 2nd teams were so close. Well, getting bronze is still better than nothing. They will do better.

Congrats!

Akira/Swift 55th Annual Track & Field Championships 2008

Was at the Akira/Swift 55th Annual Track & Field Championships 2008 at Bukit Gombak stadium this afternoon. We were there to watch our cousin run.

Were they running or where they doing 'flying martial arts'. This boy's running by floating in the air.

One of the many races. The boys getting ready to grab the baton and run.

I have not heard about the Swift Athletics Association until this week!

Swift Athletes Association was founded in 1947. It is the oldest athletic club in Singapore and one of the oldest in Asia. It is run by a group of former athletes who volunteer their time in organizing events and coaching athletes.

Father of the Internet - Dr Vint Cerf from Google spoke at NUS today.

The "Father of the Internet" - Vinton G. Cerf (also Vice President & Chief Internet Evangelist, Google) gave a talk at the School of Computing, NUS today.

It was an interesting talk indeed. All who attended enjoyed the talk. I am most amazed by the part of the talk about interplanetary Web. (Where sensors on spacecraft, satellites and planets to transmit information to each other and back to Earth using a common set of protocols)

This photo, Vint waving to the overwhelming crowd at the end of the talk.

Which product from Google do you use the most?

The Chinook does an emergency..

Spotted earlier today at the university's field. A Chinook waiting for the soldiers to come back in.

Not sure what happened, we are all wondering if it was a patient needing emergency airlift with the help of the army to the National University Hospital.

Have you helped someone who needed some sort of emergency before? What did you do?

NOL Building

Next to PSA Building is NOL Building. NOL stands for Neptune Oriental Lines, a global transportation company from Singapore, with core businesses involved in container transportation, terminal operation and supply chain management.

What was the last thing that was shipped to you from far away? A few days ago, my colleague had his notebook bag shipped from Australia. (It cost him quite a bit for the bag!)

PSA Building

The PSA Building. A landmark along Alexandra Road for those who wants to get their bearings.

PSA stands for Port of Singapore Authority. It was corporatised on 1 October 1007 and it has since been called PSA Corporation Ltd. You can read more about PSA here.

Pinnacle@Duxton

Pinnacle@Duxton the tallest public housing in Singapore.
Here's another photo update of it.

Wonder when is the completion date. I would love to live there. On the 50th floor! ;-)

Are you afraid of heights? Would it be scary if you look out your window from the 50th floor?

Donuts

Donuts bought by friends for the rest of us to try. They sure are delicious. More close ups of them here.

Donuts always have holes in the middle. OK some of the donuts above do not have holes or the holes have been covered.

Kinda reminds me that humans too have a void in their hearts. Especially those who have lost their loves ones to the cyclone in Myanmar and the earthquake in China.

What fills your heart?

Twist them while they are young

(I think they are) Young Bamboo plants twisted to form beautiful designs when the plant is still young.

Do you believe humans are also the same? We are who we are today because of our parent's nurturing us with lots of love.

Today, it's Mother's Day. Wishing a very Blessed & Happy Mother's Day to all mothers!
Thanks for not sparing the rod and spoiling us.

He who spares the rod hates his son,
but he who loves him is careful to discipline him. Proverbs 13:24

Have a wonderful weekend!

It's so hot! Saved by aircons....

The last two weeks it has been so hot!!! in Singapore that everyone is turning on their air-conditioners nearly 24x7!

This is what is on top of almost all offices in Singapore. It's what cools our offices.

What temperature do you set on your air-conditioning if you turn them on?

RGS Gate, the close up

Yesterday's photo was taken across the road. Today's photo is taken right in front of the gate.

This is the plaque that's on the most left in the photo above.

Do you remember which year your school was established?
My secondary school was established in 1919. That's a long way back..

Remnants of Raffles Girl School at Singapore Management University

A few days ago, I met my sister and her colleague for dinner. Her colleague said, hey you should take a photo of this.

This is the only reminder that her school, Raffles Girl School ever existed in the city centre at Queens Street. The school gate.

There's a Raffles Girls Primary School and Raffles Girls' School (Secondary) which share a common history but is not affiliated to each other. Talk about confusion! haha

The site now houses the 3rd university in Singapore, the Singapore Management University.

Is the school that you went to when you were a little kid still around?

The Latest Donut Craze from Indonesia

This is the latest donut chain in Singapore that is causing donuts fans to go gaga over. J.Co Donuts. It has been attracting long long queues since it opened.

This is its first outlet in Singapore. I just found out from its website, www.jcodonuts.com that its from Indonesia. This branch opened in February is franchised by Breadtalk, a local bread company.

Are you a donut lover? What is your favorite flavor?

This month's theme is Numbers. Today's photo shows a Bus Stop Code which is a 5 digit number. Every bus stop in Singapore has a number. With this code you can check when your bus is coming! (yes, via a mobile phone with internet access or SMS)

Find out more about how other Daily Photo bloggers are interpreting this month's theme. Due to time differences, some photos might appear at a later time.
