Theme Day, May 2008: Numbers

Today's 1 May 2008. In Singapore, today's Labour Day, a public holiday. In other cities in the world, Daily Photo Bloggers have our Theme Day.

This month's theme is Numbers. Today's photo shows a Bus Stop Code which is a 5 digit number. Every bus stop in Singapore has a number. With this code you can check when your bus is coming! (yes, via a mobile phone with internet access or SMS)

Find out more about how other Daily Photo bloggers are interpreting this month's theme. Due to time differences, some photos might appear at a later time.

I like the composition of your photo. I wonder if we're turning into creatures of numbers which ultimately will depersonalize us. I frankly don't like it.

I love that everything can be checked by sms on your mobile!
Are busses usually on time?

je trouve que c'est une bonne idée, cela arrive en France aussi. bon choix

I think it's a good idea, it does happen in France too. Right Choice

Excellent choice. Nice angle of photo too.

Do you have to punch in all that numbers to get the bus to stop at the station?!?!? ;-)

That's a good use of SMS. I wish we have a more effective public transport in here. We can not really ustlise this technology in Nelson, but may be in larger city like Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

Thanks for leaving a note to remind me of Theme Day! Aaah!! I forgot and panic as I didn't have any photo for our Theme Day!!!! Working on it now! Thanks a lot!

we have all our bus stops numbered and you can text to find out when the next three buses are due - but I don't think they actually tell you if your bus is running late so I'm dubious (cynical even) about the value of the system.

Amazing how advanced you are with knowing about arrivals! I didn't know these existed.

Do like the angle on this. Our buses don't have anything as sophosticated. Good choice.

What a convenient idea! Hope they are usually running on time.

What a good idea! No more wondering when the bus will turn up. I've not heard of this before. Thanks for sharing this on Theme Day :)

Useful number - is there one you can call to complain when it is wrong ? ;-)

I am discovering that everything has a number! Hope you had a nice holiday.

That is amazing that you can check to see when it will come!

Is this the bus you usually catch? Good to have a number to call, I'm often left waiting and wondering if it is ever going to turn up!
