I happened to be one of the mad people around who are fueling the price increase, because retailers know that people under some 'circumstances' just have to buy bak kwa for others.




It was a rainy day that happened to be a blessing in disguise.

The queue was short! We started queuing at 3:40pm and we got my 'spoils' and paid for it and left the shop at 4:10 pm.




If you want to know, the price of Bak Kwa as of Sunday, 30 Jan 2010:
Bee Cheng Hiang - $50 / kg
Lim Chee Guan - $52 / kg

Half a building

I walked past this building and thought to myself, I got to take a photo of this building!



Only half of it is left!

If you are looking from the front side, only the left part is left.
The right part has been chopped off!
The wall separating the two sides are still standing tall.

Shophouses and Steel and Glass Houses

On the foreground, old shophouses that have been around for the longest time.



In the background, brand new stylist glass and steel clad condominiums soaring up the skies.

Long ago, people stayed in shophouses. Nowadays, they are used only as 'shops',  the 'house' part is now condominiums for those who can afford it. People aspire to stay in glass and steel houses now. ;-)

We happened to need some parking coupons and the coupons are 'special' day coupons.

We found out that it can be only bought from HDB, so we went to the nearest HDB Branch Office where we were, which happens to be the Bukit Merah branch.

It's amazing that any lady that goes in and wear the gowns gets transformed into the prettiest and elegant bride.

Probably one of the fattest cat I have seen.
(Worse than Garfield!)



It is male and his name is Yuniko.
He is a guard cat and lives in an office.

He even have a twitter ID! Probably the most IT Savvy cat around! LOL

Singapore's 1st Eco-Food Court

Obsession with Certification - It's not only Singapore's that obsessed with it, every country in the world is. The latest certification could probably be Eco Friendly Food Courts!



This is Singapore's 1st Eco-Food Court.
You can read about what it is about in this news article.

Basically to get certified, they do not use Styrofoam packaging for takeaway food.
The food waste is separated (since 2007! read here) and leftover oil are recycled (into bio diesel).

Tossing food in the air!

It's the Lunar New Year soon and it's when Yusheng (鱼生) is back in the menu for many Chinese restaurants. 



I had the opportunity to toss yusheng at 165 metres in the air on the Singapore Flyer!

Saw this at Great World City and Meg from Nelson said something that 'aha' me.

There's a No and they cancelled the No.
So, this sign is saying, You can smoke, you can have pets, you can carry a camera, you can tout etc... right?



Yup, many places like to put No signs in Singapore.
Even most kids in Singapore, when you ask them anything, their standard answer is "No"!

Size: Asian

I was participating in a Fire Drill and we were giving Safety Vest to wear.
It was all the same size and the size is Asian.



What a silly way to name sizes.

You would probably have guessed.  Some of us could fit in, some could not, and we were all Asians.

Stadium Station at night.

This is the Stadium MRT Station at night.

It is kind of unique don't you think?
It's like a huge hangar and it looks like an airplane can park in there!




The entrance to the station is so bright, it's as if the folks I was with was like fireflies attracted to the lights!
