View from ION Sky

It was a clear day, it was going to rain, thus the view is full of tiny droplets of rain/mist.

This view is towards the south and you can see the Reflections and Sentosa Island.

View from top of ION (Viewing on a retina display? This photo will look clearer if you click on the photo and view it in Flickr)

That's not going to prevent folks who think Singapore's not boring from going up 218 metres in the sky from ION Sky.

You can have a 360 degrees view of Singapore from the 56 level of the ION Orchard Tower. Kind of reminds me of climbing up Eiffel Tower, but this is all enclosed and no strong winds to blow you unstable. LOL

I just discovered there's an ION Sky website too! http://ionsky.com.sg

To infinity and beyond....

I know of 2 very high up in the sky infinity pools in Singapore.
The big one at Marina Bay Sands Hotel.

Infinity Pool at Westin Singapore

This smaller one at Westin Singapore.
The wife and I had a dip in it during one night when we had a staycation there. It was freezing.

If you are bored in Singapore, have a dip in a pool high up on a building!

It's nice to look at infinity pools isn't it? It seems endless and the pool seems to extend all the way to the sea with the ships!

W

The famous W logo.

Definitely not a boring place if that place has a W property. Do you agree?

Love the design on the sign.

If you are bored, don't try to spray paint walls. Go take photos of sprayed pain walls instead.
You can find quite a few of these nice ones around.

Not telling you where, you go find them!

The Cool Blue Merlion

How many Merlions are there in Singapore?
There are a few official ones.

This Merlion at Sentosa changes colour at night.
This is the Blue Version.
Someone I know who works for Sentosa told me it's Cool Blue.

If you are bored in Singapore, go hunt down the Merlions in Singapore and take selfies with them!

Bye Bye McDonald's Place.

This was taken sometimes in March 2014. This building was McDonald's Place at 11 King Albert Park. It has been around for so long as it's one very popular McDonald's in Singapore. Many people have fond memories here.

Last meal at KAP McDonald's

KopiKosongGirl says we got to go there and have a last meal. We were going off to Australia for holidays and when we are back, it would have been closed.

Last meal at KAP McDonald's

So here's our last supper here.
As of today as this is posted, half the building has been demolished. So fast!

We are missing it!

The High Tech Turtle of Singapore

Think we love to give things nicknames in Singapore.

We have the Esplanade and we call it the 'durian'. This is the new National Stadium being build. I think it looks like a 'turtle', don't you think so?

Would it be called "The Turtle" or "Tortoise"?

The Turtle

You won't be bored in Singapore when you can watch many shows or sports that will be doing on there. It should be ready in mid 2014, a few months more! Can't wait.

Once it's completed, it would have the world's largest Dome Roof.

The skies turned purple while we had dinner on the sea.

This was taken while we were having dinner. We had dinner over a floating platform where is used to rear fish, called a Kelong.

The sunset is beautiful isn't it?

PurpleSunset

Food was good. Company was good. View was very good too!
You can't really get bored in Singapore if you know where to go and what to do.

Locks of Love

It's a copycat from Paris' Love Locks.

When you are in love, you will do anything to please the other half. So if they want you to show your proof of love, you do it.

Locks of Love, Singapore - Clarke Quay

If you are bored in Singapore, you can go put a lock at the fence too that's along the Singapore River.

Locks of Love, Singapore - Clarke Quay

It's currently looking quite sparse (i.e. pathetic), with not that many locks yet.

Locks of Love, Singapore - Clarke Quay

I am not sure if more people will buy the locks (there's a lock vending machine there too) and lock them there. Maybe if they do, it might look better.

I won't do it, coz I'm not bored enough.

Changi Point Coastal Walk

Bored in Singapore, let's do a walk. A very long walk to burn off those calories if you ahem have extra weight, or build those muscles if you are skinny.

Changi Point Coastal Walk

This walk is kind of easy, because it has a boardwalk. It also tells you how far you got to walk. See the signs below.

Changi Point Coastal Walk

Just take a photo and this and then you can guesstimate how far your walk will be, and if you are going to turn back, it's not beyond the points of no return. You know, if you walk more than half, it's not wise to turn back. LOL

Changi Point Coastal Walk

Have a great week ahead!
It's not really that boring in Singapore.

Bukit Timah (Hill)

The view (again, and this time with better resolution) of Bukit Timah. Bukit Timah already means Timah Hill when it's translated from Malay to English, but everyone calls it Bukit Timah Hill. Why? Coz most people do not understand what Bukit means.

Bukit Timah (Hill)

(Viewing on a retina display, this photo will look clearer if you click on the photo and view it on Flickr)

It's also because the whole area is called Bukit Timah, so as to distinguish it the area and the hill itself, people call it Bukit Timah Hill.

This is the highest natural peak in Singapore and nature reserve around it is also home to many rare plants. Bukit Timah (Hill) is 163.63 metres tall. The nature reserve is around 163 hectares. (Source)

The tallest buildings in Singapore are 280 metres tall. (That's the currently allowed maximum heights for buildings in Singapore and there are 3 buildings with that height. That easily dwarfs the hill.

Singapore Sea at night

This was one of the flights we took when we flew back home. It was literally a sea of lights! The skies and the seas are equally congested!

Singapore Sea from the Air

If you are bored in Singapore and want to view airplanes setting off and landing, go to Bedok Jetty. You can see planes in the skies coming down almost non stop in the middle peak hours.

The Pool High Up There.

It's the pool up there. However if your hotel room is higher up, it's the pool down there.

The Pool at Westin

The view of the Infinity Pool at the new Westin Singapore.
For those who are bored, you can always come for a swim here.

Bye part of AYE, Hello MCE

Things change very quickly. One day we have part of the AYE (Ayer Rajah Expressway) cut off and traffic flows into the MCE (Marina Coastal Expressway).

The cut off when you are driving is so smooth, you don't know what happens until you reach the tunnel and get a shock. It was fun though as you drive through (provided you were not those who got stuck on the first few days)

Bye part of AYE, Hello MCE

If you are bored, go to take photos of the old highway before it's all gone.
It should be gone very quickly, maybe as I post this, this part of the old AYE is already gone.

The containers you see, it will be gone in a few years too. It's going to be posh living areas for those who can afford it.
