Locks of Love

It's a copycat from Paris' Love Locks.

When you are in love, you will do anything to please the other half. So if they want you to show your proof of love, you do it.

Locks of Love, Singapore - Clarke Quay

If you are bored in Singapore, you can go put a lock at the fence too that's along the Singapore River.

Locks of Love, Singapore - Clarke Quay

It's currently looking quite sparse (i.e. pathetic), with not that many locks yet.

I am not sure if more people will buy the locks (there's a lock vending machine there too) and lock them there. Maybe if they do, it might look better.

I won't do it, coz I'm not bored enough.

Mid Autumn Festival 2010 at Clarke Quay

If you are free, head down to Clarke Quay to see the beautiful Zodiac Lanterns.
They are beautiful.

Mid Autumn Festival 2010 at Clarke Quay - Rabbit

There are 12 characters in the Chinese Zodiac, but I seem to have missed one when I was taking them.

If you are able to read Chinese, here's some descriptions about the Rabbit Character.

G-Max Reverse Bungy Jump at Clarke Quay

I had dinner earlier at Clarke Quay.  Doesn't this place looks really beautiful at night.

Clarke Quay

Every now and then, you will hear people screaming. Do you know why?
There are folks doing the G-Max Reverse Bungy Jump! They are screaming their heads off!

G-Max Reverse Bungy Jump

I have been saying I want to try the reverse bungy jump, but until now I dare not try it!
Yeah, I am a scary cat!

turkish ice cream man @ clarke quay

One of Clarke Quay's so called "little entertainment attraction" is the Turkish Ice Cream man's fiddling with the ice cream that he sells. It's like a mini acrobat display!

He's quite popular and so are his ice creams. :-)

Arriving at Clarke Quay by boat

When you ask most people in Singapore how to get to Clarke Quay, they would say take the Mass Rapit Transit (MRT). That would be the easiest way because there's a station at Clarke Quay!

But the other day I arrived at Clarke Quay the way the Coolies did in the colonial era. I arrived by alighting from a boat on the river!

It kinda reminded me of Bangkok and Sydney though. Hmm... I felt like a tourist!

Clarke Quay

Did they have a new coat of paint I wonder?
The hills behind, the water in front, it's a very nice location eh?

clarke quay

Everything looks too 'clean'. Haha..

It reminds me of Disneyland though. If you have been to the one at Anaheim, does it kind of remind you of "It's a small world" ride?

Oh no... suddenly the song is ringing in my head again!

Play like the children!

Whenever there is a sprinkler with water sprouting out, you will find children playing with the water. And it's alway a sight that puts a smile on my face :-)

You can see this kiddo, checking out the place.

Here's another one, where the kid went right ahead to play!

Hope the weekend will have fun like the kids playing :-)

Clarke Quay along Singapore River

This is an area where lots of tourists will visit for its restaurants and night life. For locals, its a place to meet friends to catch up. You can see the row of colourful shophouses, which has been repainted to give it a fresh and modern look.

This is taken together with part of the Singapore River.

The Merchants of Singapore

Around Clark quay area, you will see a total of 9 stone sculptures, representing a family of merchants. This is to celebrate the lives of hard working people who with faith and dedication helped create a solid economy in Singapore.

Here's 2 of them.

This was realised by Michele Righetti under the commission of Far East Organization.

Last nite, I was on the way to meet friends for dinner and I took this shot.

It's the G-max Reverse Bungee at Clarke Quay. Read that it shoots up in the air at 200 kph!
Some time ago, I posted a day photo, this is a nite photo.

Anyone wanna go?
You think it's less scary during the nite? Or it's the same day and nite. :-p

Wait! Don't jump off the building!

Yes, don't jump off the building, you are not spiderman. (yes... i just watched Spidey 3 few hours ago)

Instead, try this. It's called the G-Max Reverse Bungy. A extreme high adrenaline pumping thingy located at Clarke Quay.

For this picture, too bad there's no one on it yet. Else, you will see someone in a capsule being shot up high into the sky. The capsule is held together by the two slanting frame. It goes up 60 metres into the air with speeds up to 200km/h!

See the person here in the picture, maybe the guy is asking the girl to go try. haha...

Would you try it?

Update: Victor a visitor to this site has a picture of the capsule. Also a writeup of an indicident about Gmax that happened about 1 year ago.

High Rise all belongs to banks?

This is a picture of the Singapore CBD skyline. Come to think of it, it seems that the taller buildings, most of them belongs to banks.

I can spot Maybank, Bank of China, Standard Chartered, United Overseas Bank, JP Morgan, OCBC Bank. Can anyone spot more? I am not really a CBD person. :-P

The low rise in front, the green field is called "The Padang". The cricket club is just beside it. The cluster of white buildling with a click tower, that's Victoria Concert Hall and the Asian Civilisation Musuem. On the right, it's the City Hall, where the Biennale 2006 was held.

A river goes between the high rise and low rise. The cluster of low rise near the tallies are Clarke Quay.

Clarke Quay Bum Boat Rides

These boats are the river taxis that bring you to various stops along the Singapore River.

If you are not in a hurry, take a boat ride and slowly absorb the lights of Singapore. After the boat ride, enjoy a drink or some food along Clarke Quay or nearby Boat Quay.

Clarke Quay Alien Spaceship

Just got back to Singapore today, and have been back posting last 2 days picture. hehe.. Just had a huge dinner too. It has been feasting these few days!

---------------

Visitors to Singapore will usually visit Clarke Quay. It's a place where those are daring can do the reverse bungee jump. Others go there to visit the pubs, and others to eat.

Well, if you are there, you will not miss these. The whole place is covered up with these to make the whole place cooler. I really mean cooler as in lowering the temperate not the 'oh yeah, its cool' kind of cool. :-P
