A Night Under the Stars with Agapella

Last night, Momo and I went to the rooftop of YMCA Orchard Rd to an event called "A Night Under the Stars with Agapella".

I got the invite through Facebook. A friend who is part of the group sent the invite. They are a very talented bunch of people who are using their voice to spread the Good News. They are also Singapore's largest acapella group.

Want to hear how they sound?
This is a youtube clip that they put up, it's them doing a rendition of Canon in D.

You can find out more about them at: www.agapella.net

Any Mahler Fan?

Do you know who is Gustav Mahler? Do you like his compositions?
Read more about him at wikipedia

This colleague of mine is a real Mahler fan. He travels round the world to attend concerts that plays Mahler, and he has even gone for Mahler's master classes!

This is a picture of his current books about Mahler he is reading, all on his table.
(nope, not listening to Mahler as I am composing this post, I am listening to Gershwin)

Hmm. on the side line, anyone knows what's Ismail Ax? It seems that the whole world is googling to find out what it means!

The biggest cello in Singapore

This is the new home of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music.

This building was officially opened on 7 October this year.

There's lots of glass being used. They are supported by paired bow trusses which look like the strings on a violin or cello.
