What attracted me take the photo is the number on the wall.
1888!

I was in a moving vehicle when I took this, so the photo is not very nice.
Just discovered that this church has a Tamil congregation.



Took a sneak peak of the interiors on wiki and found out this cathedral is where many TV shows film weddings! It has such a nice interior.

130 Years of the Presbyterian Church in Singapore

Yesterday, all the Presbyterian Church in Singapore did not hold services in their own premises.

All 38 different congregation met one 'church' at the Singapore Indoor Stadium instead to celebrate the 130 years the Presbyterian Church has been in Singapore.



I think probably 8500-9000 people gathered together here. It was a very unique service as both the Chinese and English speaking were together.

During the singing of hymns and praises, people were either singing in English or Chinese and it sounded great!

Clouds

Saw this yesterday on the way home after work.
The clouds were so different, billowing clouds. It's as if someone's blowing them!
The skies were so blue too!



The building being constructed is a new mall and a church that's coming up in One North, just beside Buona Vista MRT Station.

I can't wait to see the finished building. It's one of the fancy buildings. I think it looks like an ark! (Take a look of it here at the church's website)

Hmm... Another 'ship' like building after MBS' Ark. Is that a prophesy that Singapore's going to be flooded?

Church of Saints Peter and Paul

It's always interesting to walk small streets in Singapore and discover new things.
I was walking Queen Street and discovered this Catholic Church.



I never knew about her history or existence until I did an online search about it.
This church building with its tower was constructed between 1869 and 1870! That is how old this building is!

According to this wikipedia entry, Napoleon III of France contributed to part of the building of this church too!



A few months ago, I visited Basilica Papale di San Pietro in Vaticano / St Peter's Basilica in Vatican City and was so amazed by it. It's amazing how such a huge Basilica can be built in the olden time without modern machinery. I am suddenly interested in the architecture of Catholic churches.

One of these days, (though I am not Catholic) I shall attend one of the mass here to see how the Catholics worship God. This church is said to be the 'Mother Church' of all the Catholic churches in Singapore. Interesting!

Oh, why the second photo? I found out from friends that the church compound is a popular place for people park their cars because the charges here are lower! (Larger version of the parking charges photo here)

The oldest existing church in Singapore - Prinsep Street Presbyterian Church

I was here for a wedding last weekend. I just read that it's the oldest existing church in Singapore. It's also where the Singapore Boys' Brigade was founded.

Today a whole group of us attended our friend's wedding. Congratulations B and L!
You all made a great couple.



The wedding was at Telok Ayer Chinese Methodist Church. (TA2) at Wishart Road (Off Telok Belangah Road).

We had a good laugh when a few people sms some in our group. "Is the wedding today? How come the church is closed?" Did they decide to cancel the wedding?

Of course not!

They have gone to the wrong location. This church has two Sanctuaries. One at Telok Ayer Street and the other off Telok Belangah Road. They all rushed over quickly and got to catch the bride enter the Sanctuary ;-)

The grandstand chairs are up. These are the seats for those who booked the "Padang Grandstand" seats. ($498 if you are wondering how much it costs.)



Behind you see the newly painted St Andrew's Cathedral, it's beautiful isn't it?

Nativity Scene

I guess most churches would have a nativity scene at some corner of the church. This one was spotted in a church i visited today. Visited because, its not the usual one that i am a member off :)

Left side of the scene showing the shepherds, who were there to see baby Jesus.

Right side showing the 3 kings who brought gifts.

St Andrews Cathedral

Paris Daily Photo posted a photo of Hunch Bak of Notre Dame a few days ago.

I happen to take this photo of St Andrews Cathedral in Singapore. Not very similar, but since I took a photo of it, here it is.



Looking at their website at www.livingstreams.org.sg, I realise that they have a Welcome Centre and it organizes tours. One of these days I might just take a tour inside, or ask my colleague who worships here for a personalized tour.

I was attending a wedding in a church the other day, and I saw this.
It's so beautiful! It was hung on the back wall.

Maundy Thursday

Today, a day just before Good Friday is also known as Maundy Thursday in the Christian Calendar. It is the day before Easter that commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Disciples.

Services in churches today serve the Holy Communion. Christians partake Communion today in remembrance of the first Communion.



This picture is to show the stain glass artwork of the Cross, to go with today's description of Maundy Thursday.

The light from the outside just shines in and the whole room is brightened with the various colours. I was quite in awe when I visited this church when the lights came in. This stain glass work belongs to one church in the west of Singapore in Queestown.
