OG - Ocean Garments or Old Girls

I took this photo the other day because a lady professor told me what OG stood for!
We always joked that OG stands for Old Girls because only old girls shop there!

OG was "Ocean Garments" long long ago.

OG - Ocean Garment

You can actually find good bargains at OG, especially during their sales!
I think their household goods during sale is 'dirt cheap'!

One thing unique about them is that their 'members card' is only issued once a year.
This year's card issue just ended yesterday. Did you get it?
(I don't have the card. But I know people who do and I can tag along to buy things. haha)

Mustafa Centre

Do you know I have never stepped into "Mustafa Centre"? I finally did a few nights ago.

mustafa centre - opens 24 hours

But I did not stay long. I was too tired and they are huge! They sell almost everything! I shall come back another day (or night), probably on the night that I can't sleep? They are open 24 hours!

A little girl climbing!

I saw this on Sunday at a shopping mall. (United Square)
It was part of a promotion that allows kids 5 to 15 years old to climb if their parents spend x amount of money.

What amazed all of us was this little girl. She was so small and looked like she's probably only three!
But she sure was brave!

Indoor Climbing

I would not have dared to climb when I was five!

We overheard this girl's parent talking to other parents. They were asking if she was already 5 as she looked so small, she was! Her mum was terrified that the little girl wanted to climb. But let her do it after countless bugging.

Indoor Climbing

Mind you, it was very high!
The robes part was on the side of this 1.5 storey high structure.
This side shows the rock climbing part of climbing up the structure.

Indoor Climbing

Kids nowadays have become very brave don't you think?

Yet another shopping mall...

Yet another shopping mall along Orchard Road. It seems that Orchard Road now have 'sections'. There's the high-end section, ie ION Orchard, Tangs, Wisma Atria, Paragon and Ngee Ann City (Takashimaya).

Then there's the young and hip section. Orchard Central, 313 Somerset and the Heeren Shops.

Ok the list is not complete, but don't you see there's so many same shops in different buildings?

One thing I want to try next time is the Via Ferrata (wall) in this building. Wonder if it's scary.... Hmm..

Singapore's 1st Eco Mall

I happened to be at Kitchener Road (near Little India) yesterday and saw that there's yet another new mall! They never stop sprouting out in Singapore.

What caught my eye is the banner.

City Square Mall

It says it is Singapore's first eco-mall.

Get vouchers!

I actually went to the Information Counter and ask why they call themselves an eco-mall. The lady said:
1) the toilet (urinals) use no water.
2) lots of natural sunlight that lights up the mall and
3) the food court exhaust uses some UV thingy. (not sure what it means)

But while walking around I see that they shops sells more eco friendly products. Eg, the electrical shop that has a banner that says it has the largest collection of eco-friendly electrical products you can find. How interesting!

Oh, mum and two of my aunts were with me, if you are a lady and like shopping, Metro in this mall is having a fabulous sale! The ladies bought lots of clothes!

Mooncake demo with Moses Lim

With such warm weather, it's nice to spend your time in the many malls in Singapore. "Free air-conditioning" is what is driving people to the malls?

Mooncakes Demos with Moses Lim

For some, it's Moses Lim, their favourite TV personality, comedian and also their favourite foodie. I remember growing up watching Moses and Jack Neo every Monday on Comedy Night on TV.

Anyone (in Singapore) remember "Gao Xiao Xing Dong"? "on ah, on ah"
I just found a link to the Theme Song that is sung in the 4 national language here. :-)

ION Orchard.. yes, eyes are on it..

The name's ION Orchard. Someone said it's to be read as Eye On Orchard.
Everyone's eyes are now on it.

ION Orchard

Everyone's waiting for it to finish, so that we can all go in and see what's inside!
Even if it's only window shopping ;-)

Orchard Central

Took a photo of this mall way back in April last year.

Around 10 months later, so much have been completed. This corner with the interesting roof is coming up nicely.

Few more months and it should all be ready I guess.

It's the school holidays. Parents will be bringing their children out for activities and sorts. Plaza Singapura has some very interesting event on its open space. X-ploring Garden Crawlies is what it is called. It's on from 29 May till 11 June 2008.

What caught my eye, a giant scorpion.

Are you terrified of scorpions? I am!

‘High School Musical: The Ice Tour - SHOOTOUT!’

I happen to be at United Square yesterday and everyone in the mall had their eyes glued at the centre open space as primary and secondary school children was having fun in this competition.

It's the High School Musical: The Ice Tour Shootout. It is a basketball shooting competition that involves 5 school mates in a team, each taking turns to shoot the ball and scoring as many points as possible in 2 minutes.

High School Musical is a hit amongst children. Have you watched the show on TV before? I enjoyed watching it!

Are you brand conscious?

After posting yesterday's photo, I realise I took a similar shot at Vivo City too just one or two weeks ago. You can see the roof top 'playground' of Vivo City on this picture as well.

I guess the brands here are different from the ones yesterday.

How many products from the brands do you own?
Are you brand conscious?

Sesame Street Characters, which is your favourite?

This was taken yesterday at the Takashimaya Shopping Centre. Shopping malls in Singapore loves to have kids shows that features cartoon characters to attract children (and their parents) to the shopping malls, and hopefully their children will extort their parents to buy the character's merchandise. :-p

Seen here, the Sesame Street characters on stage. They were singing, dancing and jumping around, with the children's eyes all glued to them.

Have you ever stopped to watch them? It is actually quite interesting!

What is your favourite Sesame Street character?

Constructions.. it goes on at Orchard Road..

This massive whatever they are called, are what you will see at corner of Orchard Road and Orchard Blvd.

This was how it looked some time ago! And the starting of the construction in July.

I am actually waiting for it to finish. It is to have a wavy roof like building. More details at its website.

Does construction goes on forever in your city too?

ION - The upcoming luxury shopping mall.

The name "Orchard Road" does not bring to mind a muddy lane in a plantation, but of indulgence shopping.

This is ION. An upcoming luxury shopping mall. This is a photo of the construction process.

It was previously called Orchard Turn, and here's an old photo taken Sept 4, 2006.

Talking about Shopping, some say the 8 week long Great Singapore Sale causes a fatigue effect. Do you think so?

Will you get giddy with these escalators?

This is taken at Vivo City, one of the newer malls around.

I thought this look interesting. The escalators criss cross each other. It's not the boring organised escalators at most places.

I just remembered, there's a circular escalator too in another mall. Maybe I will take a picture of that another day.

I looked up and saw it! Colours!

Do you look up once in a while?

I did and saw this. Wonderful colours!

This is at Millenia Walk, where the shops are of the more upper class. Sis said walking here is like in Melbourne, Australia. Very Collins or Bourke Street.
