Bougainvillea - It's almost everywhere

Bougainvillea is a flower that you can find almost everywhere in Singapore. (and many parts of the world as well).

It's a very thorny plant, and I have been pricked by it many times. This is an example of the purple flower Bougainvillea.

A very hardy plant that survives anywhere. Popularly used at overhead bridges and HDB estates.

Laaaah, soooo pretty!

Have you wondered how difficult it is to clean the Esplanade? :)

I'll be down this Friday. Leaving on Sunday. You think the 4 of us have a chance to meet?

I do wish it would grow and thrive in Arkansas. But it gets too cold here for it to last. I only see this beauty when I go south - or when I am lucky enough to see a photo like yours.

Beautiful.

We see these beautiful flowers only in pots in the summer in Michigan. You are very fortunate! Enjoy them for me.

thanks for this picture! A year ago we had to leave our home and our front gate was covered in the pink and red varieties. I miss the flowers, but not trimming the bushes.

Are they free-standing? Over here, they behave like climbers so many go up fences and trellises.

Wow, interesting to know that they grow everywhere in the world. Thanks everyone for sharing.

Yes, it is a hardy plant, and they leave lot of dried leaves, and horrible thorns.

Meg, they are not creepers as much here, as they are trimmed quite often.

They grow in Sydney too but only just starting to really blossom again after winter.

I'm sorry but I find your keropok.com too visible, it spoils the image. Could you try and hide it a bit, perhaps if you made it green or purple so it blends in better with the picture?
